A Legacy of Innovation

From a Single Venture to 50+ Connected Concerns

1990–1996

The Beginning & Entering the Mainstream

Our story began in 1990 with Daffodil Computers, leading Bangladesh's tech industry as the first clone PC assembler (1991) and the pioneer of the "Computer Superstore" concept (1996). Recognizing that hardware alone couldn't drive the nation forward, we made our first foray into human capital development by establishing the Daffodil Institute of IT (DIIT) in 1997.

William (Bill) H. Gates, Founder & Technology Advisor of Microsoft Corporation meets the Chairman, Daffodil Group during his visit to Bangladesh.

Daffodil started assembling CDCOM clone PC with imported parts from Singapore and Taiwan.

The company started its journey with Daffodil Computers Ltd.

1997–2002

Technology Meets Education & Digital Foundations

The establishment of the Daffodil Institute of IT (DIIT) in 1997 marked a defining transition - using technology not only as a business, but as a means of developing future-ready human capital. By the turn of the millennium, Daffodil expanded rapidly into ISPs, web and e-commerce, digital employment services (like jobsbd.com), and enterprise software. The establishment of Daffodil International University (DIU) in 2002 marked a major institutional milestone, alongside our participation in the monumental government railway reservation ticketing initiative driven by Daffodil Software Ltd. (DSL). Key Concerns Established: DIIT, DSL, DOL, DIU, jobsbd.com (now Skill.jobs)

First ISP daffodilonline.com was established.

Daffodil Institute of IT (DIIT) set up to educate young generation in IT and give the opportunity to earn degree of International Standard in computing, business & accountancy with affiliation of NCC.

During his tenure as the President, BCS in 2002-03, Chairman of Daffodil Group meets Iajuddin Ahmed, Honorable President of Bangladesh.

Chairman of Daffodil Group is seen with Mr. Abul Qasim Muhammad Badruddoza Chowdhury, Honorable President of Bangladesh.

DCL has become the strongest IT vendor in the country.

2003–2012

Building Human Capital & Connecting Opportunity

The Group significantly broadened its mission from technology to large-scale education, skills, professional development, and social impact. We established the Bangladesh Skill Development Institute (BSDI), Daffodil International College (DIC), Daffodil International Professional Training Institute (DIPTI), and the Daffodil Foundation. Throughout this decade, Daffodil strengthened the connection between education, technology, employability, and industry, while expanding international academic engagement and initiatives designed to make technology and education universally accessible. Key Concerns Established: BSDI, DIC, DIPTI, Daffodil Foundation, Daffodil International School (DIS)

Bangladesh Skill Development Institute (BSDI) started its operation to train and educate the youths of the country in technical and professional skills.

Daffodil International Professional Training Institute (DIPTI) was established to provide professional training to unemployed as well as to professionals to develop skills.

DIIT got the University & Industry alliance (U&I) affiliation from University of Dhaka.

Daffodil International University achieved 3rd CMO Asia’s Best B- School Award-2012.

BSDI has been honored with the Award “Education Leadership” by IIT India.

Daffodil International University hosted ACM-ICPC Dhaka Regional.

Daffodil International University achieved Beautification Award 2006 presented by the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

Achieved the “Academic Excellence Award” of NCC Education UK among 45 countries in the world.

2013–2021

From Learning to Enterprise & Expanding the Platform

The Group began building a stronger entrepreneurship ecosystem. We focused heavily on supporting enterprise development, incubation, entrepreneurship education, and industry collaboration through the launch of Bangladesh Venture Capital Limited (BVCL). We continued to broaden our institutional and business portfolio, expanding our footprint with ventures like Amar Securities Ltd, creating a highly diversified organizational platform connecting talent, technology, enterprise, and capital. Daffodil Group makes a joint venture agreement with BBP Advisory Limited (Japan) to set up new venture “Daffodil Japan Institute of Technology (DJIT).

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus addresses at Social Business Youth Convention 2013 hosted by DIU.

International Conference on Tertiary Education hosted by DIU.

Mr. Santiago Gutierrez, President, WITSA hands over WITSA Award to DIU.

Global Money Week where Daffodil is a lead promoter.

Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, DIU along with other leaders of Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) in Thailand in a pledging mood for upholding the bond of cooperation.

DIU received “Global Inclusion Award” competing with 160 Countries on 3 May 2017 at the historic Meistersaal in Berlin, Germany by Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI) and the German G20 Presidency/German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Daffodil IT Park and BSCIC started its operation.

2022–Present

Becoming a Connected Global Ecosystem

A new generation of ventures and institutions - including DIST, DUSC, and the Daffodil Response Center - reinforced our evolution into a diversified, globally connected ecosystem. Daffodil International University (DIU) achieved remarkable international standing, securing prominent placements in the QS World University Rankings and gaining global recognition for its impact on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Today, the Group stands as a premier socially responsible conglomerate, pledging a significant portion of its success directly back into national development.
